And Done

I know, two posts is one day, it's a shocker. But, I'm finished the BJD head! Yes, finished. Done. Shipping it out tomorrow. It's packed and labeled and ready to go!

I also made a little necklace for her, as it took ages longer to finish than I thought it would and I felt horrible. I ran out of spray fix and had to order more, which of course took way to long to get here.

Anyhow, I'm now accepting commissions for custom BJD faceups! That's right, I loved the experience so much I'm ready to do it again! I want to try some different things, face tattoos, vibrant colors etc. You want orange eyeshadow? I want to paint your doll!

Also going to take commissions to do body tattoos on the doll itself. I'm starting to make jewelry items specifically for BJD dolls, so if you've got something you want, talk to me and I'll see if I can help you out!

As always, I take commissions through my Etsy shop. Press the request custom item button!

Coming Up Pink!

That's right, it's weird, alot of earrings and paintings recently are coming out, pink.

Eh. Hardly matters. New earrings, new paintings up in my shop. Contests still running!

Almost done with that BJD head, waiting on feedback to finish lips and the eyes should be done today. If all goes well I hope to have her finished tonight, final photos taken and shipped to her mom tomorrow. Where I should hope to get finished photos of the doll!

Any who, things are still going about as well as can be expected. I'm broke, need money to pay bills(like rent next month) and to buy food with. My roommates shall be moving in soon, as my brother is moving out, and then it's painting time!

That's right, I'm painting the rooms of my house! Stairway, upstairs...etc. Downstairs is getting ignored because once I move out the ceilings are getting redone. Of course so is the kitchen...so the downstairs is being ignored.

OH! Belatedly, I was at the Raveler's meet up at Knitter's Connection in Columbus this past month! So many ravelers! It was fantastic, informative and lot's of fun to see all those people!

Went the next day for the market, bought nothing, but Sophia dear gave me the colors of yarn she didn't want from her grab bag! Love that girl. So I'm making some fingerless glove/mitten things out of this gorgeous brown/blue fingering weight. About halfway done with one glove as I'm sort of in the summer doldrums right now. Haven't even managed to finish Sophia's skirt. Although, admittedly, that's not really a surprise from me. For maybe six inches, it's supposed to be...oh, floor length. Eh...Maybe I'll get knee length out of it and be happy. I've got soooo much yarn for it.

Ah, and a picture of the doll head for you lot:

That's it for now, maybe I'll get proactive with my knitting. Maybe.

New

New earrings up, made with gorgeous cherry quartz I picked up from Cornerstore.

Along with the jump rings to make the chain, of course. I'm even making a pair for myself! Finally got the last ingredient to finish the BJD faceup, finally. So it'll be done super soon and I'll post pictures. Still hosting a few contests(check previous posts) and trying to find a job. See, I have these weird things called bills and ...no money.

If you'd like to help, you could always buy one of my lovely pairs of earrings!

School starts in little over a month. Joy. Actually I'm half excited and half irritated. . . eh.

Let's see, if I sold every item in my shop, I could pay my bills...that'd be nice. Anyhow, see you next time.

My Second Sale and a Contest or Two

Okay, I made my second sale on Etsy! Awesome eh?

And I gave away a free pair of earrings to one lucky person, she doesn't know it yet though.

Put up some new earrings in the shop:

Pretty eh? Okay, one of them is actually a charm, but it's Swavorski crystal and hematite, how can you go wrong with that? Gonna ride my bike to the post office to mail out that sale. Oh, and I have an updated picture of the head!

The spray fix for the powder sections was shipped, which means I'll have her done ASAP. I feel bad it's taken so long, I wanted to have her shipped back to her mother a week ago. Ah well.

Bought soap from Moonstruckmagic, an Etsier. Can't wait to get it!

Also bought some jump rings and cherry quartz chips in a game of tag from Cornerstore. Tag was a lot of fun and I'm going to try and do it again!

Lest I forget. Contests! I'm running my CARELESS competition through my Devart page, here.

My Thread Killer Contest is running here.

The Shop

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5946642

Updates to the shop: New Earrings, New Watercolors, a Creepy Ceramic Fish and who knows what else!

The Contest

There comes a time when you realize no one actually cares about anything. But guess what? I do...not.

Which brings me to the importance of this journal. I've decided to run my very own little contest. Because I am bored and have nothing better to do.

The theme?

Careless. That's right, care - less. However you want to interpret that. All media are fine as entries. Contest deadline is August 30 (for the moment).

The prize? Ah, well here we go! 1st through 3rd shall gain recognition by being glorified in my journal for two months. First prize shall be treated to a commissioned work by myself.

Illustration of course. Because even though you might really want me to take a picture of a rhino for you, I don't have access, I'm sorry. Okey dokey, that's about it. I'll advert this everywhere and you all can decided how little you care! By entering the care-less competition!

Contest is on: http://alice-time.deviantart.com/

Another Contest for those of you on Etsy.

http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5705322

Kill the thread and win some prizes!

Also, my second sale will receive a free pair of earrings!

The Head Has Arrived

The box. Ah...

And the head itself. I know it's sort of creepy without any eyes, but I don't have any eyes to put in it to make it less creepy. Anywho, I'm starting the face-up today. Sophia's coming over with some final bits and pieces I need to put it all together and we'll start. Pictures of each step, of course, will be posted.

No, I am not Dead

Well, it seems this little knitter went to Knitter's Connection, I went to the Market and I went to the Ravelry presentation. I've got my Etsy shop, up and running, so check it out! It's awesome...maybe.

I can take commission work through my Etsy shop, so look out for that. Let's see...I updated my Ravelry, got my Driver's Temporary Permit for the fourth time and covered my laptop in stickers.

Read way too many fantasy novels over the last few days and have been waiting patiently for my brother to go grocery shopping. School starts Aug. 25, my last year! That's right, I graduate from college next May. Woot.

It's flooding here, there saying it's the biggest one in decades on the news. Eh. I don't see it. Leastways, not around here.

The pictures are some flower photos I've been taking lately for my parents. You can find more of them on my Devart account. It's been the one thing I've been doing consistently really. Been painting too, but I haven't produced too many of those. It's been a weird time.

Waiting on word from a publisher about my manuscript. We'll see how that goes. Of course, I'll be happiest if they say yes.

That's it for now really. I'll post again when I have something to say.

Alive and Jetlagged

I made it...five flights and five airports and a four hour delay on my flight to Chicago that made me miss my flight to Columbus but I got another one and now I'm home a bit jetlagged but otherwise alright and my brother made me Chinese food for breakfast and is therefor awesome.

Ah. It's good to be home. Over here is a picture from my travels. Enjoy.

Put Out The Fire...Again.

This time I am not pressing my political views upon you all. This time, I have an amusing story for you.

I set my shirts out to dry(we don't have a dryer here) after washing them, unbeknownst to me, the sleeve of one shirt was dragging on the top of a lamp...

Smoke and boom, shirt on fire. On the left, you can see the burned shirt. Yes, just the sleeve and no, it's not a whole lot of damage but still...it caught on fire. Fire!
Of course, the fire theme was repeated when our power went out...so we got candles, set a marshmallow on fire and sent up a prayer to a few pagan gods to put our power back on. (Yes, we did get power back later when our roommate came back and showed us where the third breaker box was. Yes, we had three breaker boxes. Ridiculous.)

Anyway, I sort of set a receipt on fire. . . on purpose. I sort of burned myself a little and sort of scared Sophia dear. Who promptly yelled at me.

In other news, the universe has aligned and fate it seems is on my side. I say this purely on the basis that...well...no. I can't tell you. I can't tell you because the person this refers to might actually read this and I'd rather not have them knowing...something.

Anywho, in about eight hours I hop on the first of five, five flights. From Florence Italy, to Rome, to London, to Dublin to Chicago and at last to home. Where I will devour Chinese food, hug my family and distribute gifts. Woot.

And the best part? Sophia and I managed to share a room for four months and not kill each other.

Hugs to everyone. I'll post again when I've landed safe and sound. Unless I die in a plane crash...I don't really like flying...not at all.

Anywho. . . See ya.

Put Out the Flame!

Well...well...well...

Fifteen minutes ago a story showed up on Yahoo news. The Olympic flame was extinguished by police (This was in Paris, France), amidst protests and taken aboard the bus following the procession. It is currently unclear how things will proceed from here.

I of course, am laughing inside.

With everything China has done, Tibet aside, their human rights record is atrocious. Perhaps this proves that instead of concentrating on how much money they can make, the world (the USA especially) should concerned more with how human beings are being treated.

I wait anxiously to find out what officials plan to do next. It is tradition that the flame be kept alive, with it extinguished, I wonder how long the Chinese government can keep up it's facade of civic happiness.

OOOH!!!!!!!

Correction, the flame was re-lighted and then extinguished again after protests resumed.

I'm going to try and keep a running update of the events here on my blog. We'll see what happens next. So stay tuned to the news!

Paris is Bigger than I thought

Yes, Paris is bigger than I thought. Customs officials are rude, and Canadians are awesome.

I saw Notre Dame, pictured on the left, and was accosted by a beggar. . . Um. Oh, I spent over twenty four hours on a train. Sophia dear wants to go back--we'll see what I think after I've had time for the pain in my back to subside.

Well, it's my shoulder really, but whatever. I managed to pull a muscle and now there's a golf ball sized section of pain in my left shoulder. Eck.

On the bright side, I go home in three and half weeks. Which is when I will eat Chinese food, muffins and mac and cheese with grand relish, hug my family and try desperately to find a job. Joy.

In any case, I have a couple papers to write, some museums to visit and at least two exams to get through and I'm done. The coursework load here is light compared to school back home.

Death Toll Rising

Over the weekend, there was what started as a peaceful protest in Lhasa, Tibet. This peaceful protest devolved and now there are sixteen confirmed deaths and eighty suspected by the Tibetan Government in exile. These reports are unconfirmed as no foreign journalists are permitted in Tibet and tourists have been expelled. Initial reports identified ten dead.

It is not clear exactly what happened. Innocent people died, of that I have no doubt, but as to who started it, well, it is known Chinese police did attempt to break up the protest, allegedly rocks were thrown and the police attacked by civilians. According to Chinese officials, these same civilians as well as protesters are responsible for thirteen innocent people's deaths and three protesters jumped to their deaths.

Of course, the only people that really know what happen can't tell us. China has blocked Youtube in an attempt to keep foreign news reports regarding the incident from it's people, as well as photos taken by people in Tibet from being seen.

My own feelings and opinions regarding Tibet aside, this is a tragedy, and those responsible for the deaths of innocent people are in the wrong here.

However, I cannot help to wonder if this could have been avoided.

May 10, China hopes to bring the Olympic torch from Mt. Everest. They are, of course, wary of more protests like the those early last year where protesters held a banner outside of the base camp.

They were arrested and later released.

Later that year, students unfurled a banner on the Great Wall, they were also arrested.

Some German athletes are considering not attending the games after the events of this past weekend, I have to say I can't blame them.

It breaks my heart to see violence in a country with a leader that wishes for peace. I should hope that any violent protester's take the Dalai Lama's words to heart and try to remain non-violent in the face of the world. Show China you won't change for them.

This is why I want to support the 198 Countries Peace Project, because Peace might be a pipe dream, but I'm going to keep smoking it.

(I don't smoke by the way, it's a figure of speech)

Peace.

Do You Speak Cheese Omelet?

This is Platform 9 and 3/4, the only touristy thing I did while in London. What else did I do you ask, I slept. For about sixteen hours. I'm sure Sophia has some comment about it.

Anywho, I thought I would belatedly post this as I like the pic.

We are headed to Paris, Sophia and I, and thus have been coming up with very strange things to say in French, such as the title of this entry. Yes, I actually can say that in French. I also know how to ask if you speak soup, chicken, and snail. Hurrah.

Other than that, I've learned how to say, "Call the police." and "Help!" I thought these would be useful.

My next entry will likely include an image of my super secret knitting project, which is really no longer a secret as I had to use Sophia's needles. . . anyway, I'm a few inches in and started the increases so the skirt bells out, it's my own pattern really, as I don't use them with any consistency. We're going to go see 10,000 BC this month, as we realized that our favorite boy from the Covenant is the lead. So pretty. . . I can ignore the facial hair for the shirtlessness.

*Fangirl squeal*

Other than that, it's fairly uneventful here. They're working on the water pipes, so we don't have any water at our apartment right now, but I can deal with that. It's just the one day. Well, that's it for today, and keep your eyes open for another broadcast from Pomcow.

No, you may not have my muffin

You have no idea how hard it is to find muffins here. Of course, I have actually found them, but it's not the same. I just want a bloody blue berry muffin. And cheddar cheese. . . Hm.

Anyway, I promised pictures. Thus, a picture. This is from my trip to Rome. Hurrah. Say hello to man feeding pigeons.

This picture was taken in the piazza with the Bernini elephant. I have a picture of that too, but I like this one better.

Anyhow, the debate about Adder's Breath continues, unsurprisingly. I have killed off another character, my bad. And started a moderately ambitious knitting project. I'm knitting Sophia a skirt for her birthday *shh* she already knows, as I had to borrow her needles to start it.

Now I have my own needles. We found this cute little store called Skandinavia. It sells candles mostly, but in the back there is some really lovely wool yarn, but my allergies refuse to allow me to use it, and they had supplies for knitting/crochet. So I bought some number 10 circulars. Sophia beat me to the other pair I wanted, and thus I will steal them from her, but this argument will be in our special Spring Break podcast. Wherein you discover what we did during spring break. Heh.

I'll post WIP pics of the skirt next time around. Peace.

Introduce Myself

Yes, this is my introduction to myself. Woot.

My name is Alice, Sophia's worse half. I'm studying abroad in Florence Italy, currently, and thus pictures will be forthcoming. I knit, I crochet and sew random things. I also enjoy beading and jewelry making.

Currently, I am studying conservation. This involves cleaning and putting together ancient bits of ceramic, pictures of this will also be forthcoming.

I'm a writer as well as crafter and the other voice of insanity in the Pomcow Podcast.

As for Sophia and my weirdness, we've known each other for going on five years now and she tossed the blog at me, thus, I am doing one. So, anyway, my ravelry page link will also be on the sidebar as well as the 198 Countries Peace Project (for now you'll have to go to Sophia's blog), Sophia's awesome senior thesis project. (I'm doing Scotland and helping out however Sophia forces me to.)

So, this would be my slightly better intro to me. See you later.

The Other Pomcow Podcaster

Hello, I'm Alice, the other Pomcow Podcast voice. When I have time, I will have a proper intro of me. In the mean time, enjoy a pretty picture of Scotland.
